Day 6 of Microcars on Route 66.
A rather deserted stretch of old Route 66. But they are almost to Adrian Texas, the half-way point
as long as that storm does not eat them up. All cars are back on the road as of today.

Day 4 of Microcars on Route 66.
The Isetta is back on the road thanks to some help from RALF who is co-pilot of the Goggomobil Transporter.

This video documents the Microcars on Route 66 Rally as it starts from Santa Monica Pier in California.
note that the Red Goggomobil Coupe with Dave Raab driving is NOT on the trip, he was just there to help send them off.
Day 2 of Microcars on Route 66. Caption for the pic says Isetta broke down again in Desert. AGAIN? So it broke down earlier? What specifically is wrong?
Oh well at least Greg (Isetta owner) will get to ride in a nice A/C equipped truck while they go through the desert.
You can follow them on their Facebook page HERE, or check back on this blog to see a daily recap.
They started at 7:30am August 8 PST. Seven Eight Microcars will travel 2448 miles along Route 66 from Santa Monica Pier in California to Chicago IL over the next 2 weeks.
You can follow them on their Facebook page HERE, or check back on this blog to see a daily recap.
2 vehicles came from Germany just to do this trip (the Goggomobil Transporter Pickup and the Goggomobil sedan).
The vehicles are (as pictured above) 3 Vespa 400′s, Goggmobil Transporter, Goggomobil Sedan, BMW Isetta, FIAT 500.
There is supposed to be some sort of Map feature on the Facebook page that take the GPS-tagged photos and allows you to track where they are at any time (at least when the photos were taken), but I can’t find any evidence of that at the moment.

From the Orange County Register, this really nicely done profile piece about Dave Raab,
Microcar Enthusiast and Collector from Tustin California. There is an ad at the beginning of the video, but the video is worth it.
There is a print story that accompanies this, read that HERE.
Make sure you read down to the first comment, it is hilarious!
