Isetta featured in FLOR catalog
On February 14 2008, we got a call from Marcus Wiedenhoeft, the design director for FLOR, a catalog and web-based seller of upscale flooring products. They were looking for a Microcar to feature in their Summer Catalog and had contacted The Vintage Microcar Club to see if there were any local owners who might be interested in renting their cars out for a photo shoot.
This was going to happen in the dead of winter, with 2 feet of snow on the ground! I explained it was going to be difficult to find an owner willing to let their car out with the weather conditions being what they were. After providing them with some photo examples of what was available locally, they were immediately drawn to Jerry Zabin’s (Skokie, IL) Red Isetta Cabrio. Even though the car is unrestored and has original paint, they said it was perfect for what they had planned.
Since no one else seems to have a trailer, I ended up picking up the car, delivering it to the Photo Location (an amazing house with all glass walls, including the garage), staying with the car and then returning it when they were finished.
The car in the garage was only one part of the photo shoot, they were doing floor samples all over the house. But they did say they expected the car to be “featured” in the catalog when it came out. Sure enough, months later when it did come out, the Isetta was featured ON THE COVER!
Contrary to what others may report, there is no Corvette in the catalog.
I requested copies of the catalog when it came out for reference and true to his word, Marcus made sure that both Jerry and The Vintage Microcar Club got copies of the catalog. Unfortunately I was unable to order any additional copies as they all got printed and then mailed, they don’t keep “back issues” of the catalogs except for their own reference, so it is basically impossible to “order” one.

There is a member’s BMW Isetta that will be featured in a Vendor Booth at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas NV. The Vendor contacted us and we helped them hook up with a local Isetta owner. Everyone is happy!
