Day 2 of Microcars on Route 66. Caption for the pic says Isetta broke down again in Desert. AGAIN? So it broke down earlier? What specifically is wrong?
Oh well at least Greg (Isetta owner) will get to ride in a nice A/C equipped truck while they go through the desert.
You can follow them on their Facebook page HERE, or check back on this blog to see a daily recap.
They started at 7:30am August 8 PST. Seven Eight Microcars will travel 2448 miles along Route 66 from Santa Monica Pier in California to Chicago IL over the next 2 weeks.
You can follow them on their Facebook page HERE, or check back on this blog to see a daily recap.
2 vehicles came from Germany just to do this trip (the Goggomobil Transporter Pickup and the Goggomobil sedan).
The vehicles are (as pictured above) 3 Vespa 400’s, Goggmobil Transporter, Goggomobil Sedan, BMW Isetta, FIAT 500.
There is supposed to be some sort of Map feature on the Facebook page that take the GPS-tagged photos and allows you to track where they are at any time (at least when the photos were taken), but I can’t find any evidence of that at the moment.
Great Pacific Northwest Microcar Meet Forest Grove Oregon, June 11-13th 2010.
Microcars and Minicars run rampant, enjoy in the fun! Saturday’s 50 mile drive through the rolling hills and farm fields of Helvetia, with a tour stop at “Garden Vineyard” . Next was lunch at “Helvetia Tavern” , a wonderful parking lot impromptu serenade by “Houseblend” and a picturesque photo op at “Pumpkin Ridge” golf course. Hot 83’f afternoon sun required a soft serve ice cream “microcar” drive-in in treat at “Scottie’s Drive-In” back in old town Forest Grove. Sunday was the big show day on the grass in front of the McMeniman’s Grand Lodge Hotel. Fun was had by all!

Start from Bruce Weiner Museum in Madison Ga and travel south toward Fl. 24 hour event for microcars of less than 500cc and made before 1965. We will pick out a spot to drive to and back in one 24 hour period. I think we could probably drive about 900 miles. All miles will be on back roads and no Interstates used.
No pushing, hauling or pulling of the microcar during that 24 hours. You can have as many drivers as you want and also as many mechanics as you want. But the car must be driven. Chase vehicle is allowed to haul other drivers and supplies. You will be responsible for your own car.
Event will be open to everyone that has a car of less than 500cc and made before 1965. Car must have original type engine. That means you can have non matching serial numbers but it was the type and size engine that was originally in car.
Come spend three days touring the Victorian area of Cape May, New Jersey.
We will visit some great locations as we take several cruises that average 4 to 5 miles each. Our tours will take us to several museums, a winery for tour and some tasting, we will see some great sunsets and show off our Microcars downtown in the Victorian shopping district of Cape May and of course some great dining. We will have a host hotel directly on the ocean with great sunrises. More information will be available as the itinerary grows. Cape May is an 1800’s Victorian style city that is perfect for a Microcar meet. Margie, Jim & Renie look forward to hosting this meet. For more information contact us at: Privateisland2@hotmail.com

Also, don’t trust the info from the Reporters/NewsReaders, one person says it happens TWICE A YEAR, wrong – it is normally EVERY OTHER YEAR.
