Spare Parts Collections assets seized

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Previously mentioned HERE, Bruce Weiner has successfully sued the people behind Spare Parts Collections and is apparently seizing their assets.  Their website is currently in the hands of a Court-appointed Receiver in California. Other assets are apparently being seized at this time as well.

Their eBay account appears to be dormant for now. Their eBay “Store” is now gone as of Dec 7 2011.  Anyone who recently ordered something from them will not be able to communicate with them as the website that was seized also hosted their email accounts and they really have no incentive to send you anything after you have paid.

Other assets are apparently in the process of being seized at this time, what they are specifically is not known.

If you DO get an email from someone you dealt with at Spare Parts Collections and they tell you that their website is just “down,” don’t believe it.  It has been seized and they are not getting it back until they pay the amount of the judgement against them.

They may simply “pop up” under a new company name in the future.  They have apparently done that in the past. Of course, if it is a “new” company, your “old” orders and payments will most likely be forgotten.

By-the-way, if you thought they had a warehouse and facilities to house a bunch of stock and do restorations, think again, this message apparently came from Plinio regarding their facilities (or lack there-of):

“We are just internet dealers and sell the parts we source from various providers in our country and the region with which we have agreements. Therefore, we do not have a physical stock of products.”

No wonder it took forever to get things from them and why shipping was so incredibly expensive.

super rare BMW Isetta for sale – Craigslist FL

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

1957 BMW Isetta for sale $45,000
located in Spring Hill FL

http://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/clt/2400800946.html
if the link does not work, the listing has expired

This seller actually has PROOF that this is a BMW Isetta, they sent the ID number to BMW and got confirmation that it is actually a 1957 BMW Isetta.

What really makes this car stand out is the configuration of the rear wheels and the type of engine that powers it. As previously mentioned in the eBay listing for this car that you can still see HERE, this car used to be a very very rare 1954 model.  The seller verified this because they “knew” someone else in the US that also had a 1954 model Isetta.  Also- “someone” from the BMW Museum in Munich stopped by to look at the car and confirmed that they did indeed have a rare beast. Never mind that the body was from 1957, this car had the PROTOTYPE ENGINE installed! Yes, prototype.  And that engine was a 2 cylinder engine. Additional photos sent by the seller show that the engine is stamped OMC.

Yes, that’s right, BMW had the Outboard Marine Corporation of Waukegan IL put a 2 cylinder engine in their early BMW Isettas.  It must be true because the seller said so!  This car is also advertised as completely restored.  You will not find a finer example of a BMW Isetta with a rare rare rare OMC outboard motor installed.

If that is what you are looking for, this is the car for you.

This engine is so powerful, they had to loosen one of the sprockets and remove the chain while sits because you never know when it will just take off and tear up the road.

These engine photos show the incredible attention to detail that was put into the restoration of this historic vehicle.

This is truely an amazing story.

Please don’t bother this seller with any questions, they only have time for serious buyers.

Peel P50 for sale

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

“Peel P50 for sale”

That is the top search term that keeps showing up day after day after day in the logs.
OK, well now you found something didn’t you?
Seriously people, do you think that current owners are just tired of them and looking to get rid of them?
If and when they sell, they sell privately.  And there is generally a broker involved. And there is also a good deal of time and effort invested in the deal.

After the P50 appeared on Top Gear there were gobs of people trying to find one to buy with such requests as
“I don’t need a restored one”, or “It doesn’t have to run, that’s OK”
and then people were astounded to find that there were not several to choose from for under $1000.
After all, they are small, so why would they possibly cost any money?

Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museums bought a replica from Andy Carter in the UK and apparently liked the attention that a REPLICA created that they started making their own copies for all the branches of their “Museums”.  Of course much of the stuff in them is replicas to begin with so it sort of makes sense for that venue.

So. For those of you that have landed here looking for a Peel P50 for sale, what do you think is a fair price for a Peel P50?
And why should someone sell their P50 to YOU?  Are you worthy?

update June 23 2010: Oh Look!  There is one being sold HERE by a Dealer on German eBay Right Now!
